Your Unit/Module may have self tests. These are little multiple choice tests that give you instant feedback. Unlike assignments or quizzes you do not submit these for marking. They simply provide feedback on how you are going in understanding the course materials.

When you click on the self test icon in WebCT you will presented with questions where you will be able to select from one or more answers

In this example Question 1 has three answers. When you click on an answer you are immediately told if you have selected the correct answer or not.

Additional feedback is often provided and may include instructions or references to the sections of the content where you can get some help about the question.

Quiz

A quiz is a test that counts towards your assessment but can often be marked by the computer.

When you click on the quiz icon in WebCT you will see a list of available quizzes. Note that all the quizzes for a course may not be shown at once. Your teacher may have set the course so that new quizzes only become available after you have done some other tasks.

To do a quiz click on the name of the quiz. In this example the quiz is about Mail. When you click on the quiz name you will be presented with a page that provides instructions on how to undertake the quiz. Read these carefully. To start the quiz click on the Begin Quiz. button.

The questions may be presented one at a time or all at once. Make sure that you press the Save Answer button after each question is answered. When you do this the red dot for the question will turn into a green star. When all questions are answered, as indicated by all the red dots turning to green stars, you need to click Finish to submit your quiz for grading/marking.

Note that if the quiz is a timed quiz the timer keeps running until you click on finish. It will keep on timing even you if you get disconnected for any reason before you click on finish.
