Course
There is no single
approach to e-learning. Different courses are designed for different purposes
and may look and function in very different ways.
For example a course unit may incorporate e-learning :
- To
deliver off campus education
- To
supplement class room resources
- To
provide class communication out of school hours (class email and online
discussion)
- Or
it could be used in any mixture of all of the above.
Your teacher will
provide some form of orientation for the course, which will include some
information about how to use WebCT (the TAFEVC e-learning software). This
will obviously vary from course to course.
Some of the main features
of WebCT include:
- Online assessment
tools
- Student tracking
- Simplified basic
course creation
- Selective release
of materials to students
- Personal student
websites
- Calendar
- Student notes/journals
- Glossary
- Bulletin board
(also called the Web Discussion)
- Internal course
email
- Chat tool
- Whiteboard
To help you get started,
we have complied a list of few generic resources that we think
you might find useful. Teachers might also want to check the Professional
Development page.
